Analytical Methods

TECH GUIDE

Samples taken of solids, water, vegetation, and other biota are often taken to a laboratory where they are analyzed for different constituents/properties important to mine reclamation. Analytical data obtained from different sampling events at a reclamation site is vital to successful reclamation efforts. Throughout the tech guide you will see the many applications analytical data has in the field of mineland reclamation. In the following sections, you will learn about the different chemical analyses that water samples may be tested for. In addition, you will learn about the different chemical and physical analyses that solid samples may be tested for. Analyses of solids are similar for waste material, soil, vegetation, and other biota. Preparation of the samples may differ but the analyses themselves are often the same.
